Good to Know: Important Tour Information
Activity Level: Level 3 — On the Go
This means you're an on-the-go traveller. You don't want to miss a thing, so walking and standing for longer periods of time (2–3 hours) isn't a big deal. A moderately paced two-and-a-half-hour walking tour, covering several miles, hills, and uneven surfaces, is no problem for you. Walking four miles over the course of a day is very doable, as is climbing into and out of various modes of transportation (tuk-tuk, cable car, zodiac, etc.). You can climb three flights of stairs easily and handle altitudes between 6,000 and 9,000 feet. Expect some longer days with early mornings or late nights balanced with free time to recharge or set out on your own adventure. This level is not a fit for travellers who require mobility assistance devices.
To experience Africa fully, we recommend that all travellers be in reasonably good health and prepare properly. You will frequently need to climb in and out of safari vehicles throughout the tour, and be prepared for long days on bumpy, dusty roads with limited restroom access. To board boats on the Chobe and Zambezi rivers, travellers will need to use gangways on their own, without assistance. This tour includes several early mornings, warm temperatures, and sitting for extended periods, sometimes up to 4 hours, and is not suitable for travellers who use mobility aids or have significant back, knee, or respiratory issues. Unfortunately, wheelchairs cannot be accommodated, and travellers who require walking assistance or travel with oxygen tanks will not fully enjoy this trip.

- On select departures, Victoria Falls accommodation may be a lodge rather than a tented camp.
- Single accommodations are extremely limited, and rates are subject to availability. Triple accommodations are not available.
Meals & Dietary Needs
If you have dietary restrictions or food allergies, please notify us at the time of booking. While we do our best to accommodate requests, options may be limited and cannot be guaranteed. Meals are prepared in shared kitchens, and cross-contamination cannot be guaranteed. Group meals typically feature pre-fixed menus designed to suit a variety of travellers.
Transfers & Flights
Round-trip airport-to-hotel transfers are included when you purchase your airfare through us. If you've arranged your own air, transfers can be purchased separately and will leave at pre-scheduled times. Please provide your full flight schedule so we can coordinate services and keep in touch in case of emergencies. Internal flights required for this tour are included in your final price.
Park Fees & Gratuities
Park fees starting at approximately $430 CAD per person (subject to change without advance notice) are quoted at time of booking and payable at final payment. Prepaid tipping is not available on this tour, so end-of-trip gratuities for your Tour Manager, driver, hotel housekeepers, and cruise waitstaff should be handled individually during your trip.
Travel Requirements & Documentation
Documentation is required by foreign governments for all trips outside Canada. Visit Global Affairs Canada at travel.gc.ca for general passport and visa information and check with the appropriate consulate or embassy for specific entry requirements. Possession of valid passports and necessary visas is the responsibility of each traveller.
- A valid passport with seven-month validity is strongly recommended for all travel outside Canada.
- Transit visas may be required if connecting through a country enroute to your final destination.
- You must have at least 4 blank passport pages remaining for South Africa and Botswana entry stamps and the Zimbabwe visa. The 2 South Africa pages must face each other, or boarding may be denied.
- Travellers under 18 entering or exiting South Africa require additional documentation and/or consent — please check with the airline and dha.gov.za for current requirements.
Zimbabwe Visa
A valid single-entry visa is required for Zimbabwe. US and Canadian citizens need two single-entry visas at $75 USD each ($150 USD total). Australian and New Zealand citizens need a multiple-entry visa at $45 USD. We recommend applying in advance via www.evisa.gov.zw; if applying on arrival, pay in cash (USD) as card payments can be unreliable. Rates are approximate and subject to change — please confirm with your nearest Zimbabwe Embassy.
We will provide all necessary information, updates, and supporting documents for your travel requirements, including visas and Electronic Travel Authorizations, approximately 30-60 days prior to departure.
Insurance
Health insurance is required when travelling outside Canada. Contact us for more details. You must also be covered by your provincial health insurance plan, or your payments will be reduced should you have a claim.
Health & Currency Notes
Malaria pills are recommended for Zimbabwe and Botswana — consult your doctor 2–3 weeks prior to departure. Each traveller is responsible for confirming required inoculations with their local travel clinic or doctor. In Zimbabwe, both Zimbabwe Gold and US Dollars are accepted; foreign credit cards are generally accepted at hotels, shops, and restaurants. For tipping, carry smaller USD denominations, as change isn't always available.
IMPORTANT: If your flight connects via Dubai and you're carrying narcotic, controlled, or semi-controlled drugs, an electronic approval form is required in advance (regular prescription and over-the-counter medication needs no prior approval). See mohap.gov.ae for guidelines.
